Leveled Up!

Amazing job, everybody!

There was so much improvement since our last repertoire class in April, and that’s the best gift any student can give their teacher. Thank you to everyone who made time to come, whether to perform or to listen.

I was particularly happy to hear students tell me how much they learned from watching other students being coached in front of everyone.

For anyone wondering whether you should still come when you’re not playing, I want to say: Yes, please come! You’ll learn a lot regardless, and your brain will register the experience as learning even when you’re observing. For example, you’ll see how others handle mistakes and recover from them. As a player works through a problem during a performance, you’re also thinking about how you would have handled it. In this way, you’re developing your own problem-solving skills on the fly, even as an observer.

Here are the performers who leveled up!

Brittany - A thousand Years (Perri)

Kristi - Mad World (Orazabal)

Sam - Fantasy-Impromptu (Chopin)

Hang - Second movement from Emperior Concerto (Beethoven)

Amelia - Serenade (Schubert)

Jensen - March & Russian Dance from Nutcracker Suite (Tchaikovsky)

Irene - Due Tremonti (Einaudi)

Bridget - Prelude in A Minor (Rollins)

Jeff, Nick, Dominick, Brittany - Canon in D (Pachelbel)

Amelia, Sam - Where is My Mind? (Francis)

Congratulations! I look forward to the next time. I’m grateful to be part of your musical journey!
